Fw: How to configure Windows clients to authenticate thru a linux lda p

AFAIK, you will need to compile LDAP with Samba support. Windows will
authenticate against the Samba DC, which in turn will pass the request
up to the LDAP server. The only LDAP (and it isn't even a
complete/correct server) that Windows desktops can auth. against out of
the box is AD. I wish/hope someone would write something that will fix
this MS mistake, cause Redmond sure won't.

Hi list,

Does anyone know how the initial user authentication on a Windows 2000
prof./server can be configured so that it points to an LDAP server instead
of the domain controller for login authentication? The ldap server is
running RH 9.0.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks,

afsheen
