The client is a java application using JDK1.4.1 and it is using LDAPv3 to talk to an openldap server on Linux machine, but the server responds "version not supported" error message. This looks like the server could be LDAPv2. Is it possible for the server to support either version LDAPv2 or LDAPv3? if so, how do you force the server to switch to LDAPv3?

Or Any one out there knows which version of openldap supports LDAPv3?

OpenLDAP 2.1 supports LDAPv3.
