LDAP filter problem

Consider the following ldap search filter:
'(somattribute>100)'
Search with this filter should return all objects, which contains attribute
'someattribute' with value 100.
but, ldapsearch only returns:
ldapsearch: ldap_search_ext: Bad search filter (87).
Does openldap not support that kind of LDAP filters?
