Re: best practice for global updates to all entries

Hi,
I do roughly the same thing every day to my servers. The procedure I
use is:

  - down the master
  - slapcat the db
  - up the master (in ReadOnly mode)
  - update the ldif file
  - send the ldif file to the slave
  - down the slave
  - slapadd the new db
  - up the slave
  - down the master
  - slapadd the new db
  - up the master (in ReadWrite mode)

I have 51000+ entries and routinely have updates to 8000 records from
the "authoritative source of information" so a live update (with an
average of 1 sec per update) is out of the question.
