TLS by default for clients?

Hey all,

  Having some trouble getting TLS to default to on for clients such as
  ldapsearch and ldapwhoami.  Using 'TLS hard' in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf is
  not the right answer because I'm not (and don't want to) using ldaps.
  What I want is effectively the same as doing '-ZZ' on the command-line
  (which works fine).
