cross-platform support?

I'm hoping to set up a linux box running OpenLDAP that my other machines
can authenticate to. I've got a pretty diverse setup, including almost
every flavor of Windows (9x, NT, 2k, etc), MacOS (9 and X), and several
unixes (Linux, IRIX, AIX, etc). Can anyone confirm support for the
various platforms, or point me to a source of information? (Google has
failed me here.)

Also, my understanding is that MS goes through Active Directory. I've
heard rumors that they change their spec with patches, and this breaks
compatibility with OpenLDAP on a regular basis. Could anyone comment?
