If you're starting out on a large thing, I'd go to the extent of getting
Openldap 2.1.8 or the latest, the BDB 4.1 libs, Openssl 0.9.6g and the
latest PAM and NSS_LDAP stuff from Padl. It'll save you a lot of
headaches later.
