Approx search

Hello!

If I do an approx search like the following, I get much more results than I 
expected:

ldapsearch -h localhost -x -LLL -b "ou=People,dc=company,dc=com" 
"(maildrop~=andreas.roedel@company.com)" maildrop

dn: uid=afake,ou=People,dc=company,dc=com
maildrop: andreas.fake@company.com

dn: uid=aroedl,ou=People,dc=company,dc=com
maildrop: andreas.roedl@company.com

"fake" seems to be the same as "roedl". Is it true that the search stops at 
the first punctuation mark? How can I influence the way it works? I tried to 
patch the iswordbreak macro in "servers/slapd/phonetic.c", but without 
success.
