Anyone have experience of using LDAP as a name service, I am having problems with resolving names, specifically; If I set nsswitch.conf to read: hosts: files ldap and then try to ping /contact any of the machines in our domain they cannot be found, I have the entries in my LDAP db as: dn: cn=hostname,ou=Hosts,dc=mydomain,dc=co,dc=uk objectClass: top objectClass: ipHost objectClass: device ipHostNumber: 10.0.1.56 cn: hostname cn: hostname.mydomain.co.uk the address of my ldap server is in my hosts file so that can be found.
