No, for then it would be "*a* PITA"

"PITA", without the definite article, as in "PITA GYROS", is Greek,
Turkish, Hindu for "UNLEAVENED - unfermented, nor with the addition of
baking powder, - BREAD" (corresponding to modern Italian "PIZZA", 'cos
Italians can't pronounce "T" properly).
