how do I specify EXTERNAL SASL mech in slurpd?

Hallo everybody,

I can not manage to authenaticate slurpd and slapd using EXTERNAL SASL mechanism, though DIGEST-MD5 works ... slurpd always says "unknown mechanism" or whatsoever when I set saslmech=EXTERNAL in replica configuration item.
Does someone have an idea?
