SupportedSaslMechanism won't display

Hello,

I'm attempting to get the Cyrus SASL working with openldap.
I had the sample server and client running and returning the following
as valid mechanisms: Plain, anonymous, digest-md5 and cram-md5
I've installed Cyrus Version: 1.5.27

I compiled openldap 2.0.23 with configure options --with-cyrus-sasl,
--enable-spasswd

I started up slapd

and when I try the command
ldapsearch -x -s base -b "" supportedSASLMechanism

I get no dn's back.

Can someone help me out here?
