sync between a database and ldif file

I haven't got any reply.

I'd like to re-ask just one of the points from there:

How do I synchronize between an openldap database and either:

1. /etc/passwd
2. ldif file extracted from /etc/passwd

The database is generally a world-readable read-only database.

Any pointers to scripts etc. would be most welcome.
