Understand Attribute Definitions

Hi all,

can anybody say what exactly SUBSTR means. Is substring for the ldapsearch
option if I want to search hypServerHostname=che* .
And when I have the following attributeType Definitions:

attributeType ( xxxxxx	NAME 'hypServerHostName'
	EQUALITY caseExactMatch
        SUBSTR caseIgnoreSubstringsMatch
        SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.15{256} )


Does it mean that the ldapserach returns me  a hit list where the
hypServerHostname matches

Example:	'CHewbacca'
		'chewBacca'
		'chewbaCCA'
		'chew baCCA'
		'c hewbaCCA'

Can anybody help me .
