For
the most part, it doesn't mean much of anything. Most networks in use today are
using IPv4, so
the
lack of IPv6 support on your machine is irrelevant. If you are already able to
connect to all the machines
and
services that you need, then clearly the lack of IPv6 on your machine has
no impact on you.
Now,
if some site admin comes along and tells you that everyone must switch to IPv6,
you will need to
reconfigure your kernel to turn on that support. But until that happens,
ignore it.

Development and Support
There can't be a message scarier than this
for a non-sys-admin (type) application developer who's just
getting started with Linux (Redhat 7.2) and everything ssl and
ldap related. I checked http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/652.html and
it tells me the operating system kernel was not configured to support
IPv6. Could someone please enlighten me what this means so I can
talk to the person who set up my system to get this worked out?
