Search using norwegian characters

We have bulk loaded 800k users into OpenLDAP 2.0.21 using LDAPv3, indexing
cn, sn, gn & mail (as far as I can recollect). Searching is fast'n'furious
and all is nice, except for one thing:

Search for the norwegian characters øæå/ØÆÅ (ae oe aa/AE OE AA) is not case
insensitive. Searching using characters from the english alphabet shows case
insensitivity. How can I fix this?

Sorry if it is a newbie question, but I couldn't find anything about this in
the Faq-O-Matic...
