strange problem (ldapsearch)

Hi list,

I have the following problem:

2 OpenLDAP Servers:
	Server A - FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE(Intel), openldap-2.0.20
	Server B - AIX 3.4, PPC-based, openldap-2.0.21 (same problem with
2.0.20 and 2.0.18

ldapsearch on Server A works fine, no matter if I ask Server A or Server
B or any other LDAP-Server.

ldapsearch on Server B just works if I ask himself (either as localhost
or with his external IP-address or name). When I ask any other
LDAP-server, I get the following answer:

ldap_initialize( ldap://ldap.xxxxx.at:389 )
ldap_bind: Can't contact LDAP server

The real strange thing is, that there is not a single IP-packet leaving
server B, it seems that it is not even trying to contact the
LDAP-server. (checked with tcpdump)

Do you have any clue what the problem could be? I already tried 3
different versions of openldap, and various switches with ./configure.
Building of openldap works without any problems, the only switch I have
to use is '--enable-shared=no' , otherwise it won't compile.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Kurt
