slapd logging with OS X

I have successfully installed OpenLDAP 2.0.6 on OS X, but am having problems getting it to make log files so I can do some troubleshooting.

I have added the following line to my slapd.conf file:

loglevel 9

And assumed after stopping and restarting the SLAPD server that I would be able to find a slapd.log in the /var/log directory. Nothing is there. Can anyone help me?
