have added backsql.dsp in the build project and I also found portable.h where
I "defined" backsql. But now I am stuck again

more possible problem here: as far as I could remember, you should modify
portable.nt file, on which portable.h is dependent, because when rebuilding the
whole workspace, .nt will overwrite .h
