problem adding /etc/passwd

Hi,
I have tried a number of 'variations' regarding trying to get my
passwd.ldif and group.ldif into LDAP. Running the following cmd:

ldapadd -D "cn=manager, o=MonteCarloLab, c=US" -w secret < ~/passwd.ldif

gives the error:

adding new entry uid=root,ou=People,o=MonteCarloLab,c=US

ldap_add: No such object
ldap_add: matched: O=MONTECARLOLAB,C=US

Previously it only emntioned 'no such object' - but it apparently matches
something. Could someone point out where I'm going wrong

TIA,

Did you hear that two rabbits escaped from the zoo and so far they have
only recaptured 116 of them?
