LDAP connect timeout

Hi,

    Let's say I have two ldap servers, ldap1 and ldap2.
If I completely turn off ldap1 (no ping, powered down), how long will
programs that use your ldap libraries (OpenLDAP 2.0.11) wait until
they fail over to ldap2???
Can this value be set, either in the source for the OpenLDAP2
libraries, or from the program that uses OpenLDAP2 libraries?
