Two or more LDAP servers for a Solaris 8 client

How can I configure two or more LDAP servers for an Solaris 8 client?

The objective is that if the first configured server is down, the
client tries to connect to the second server.

  I've tried with "NS_LDAP_SERVERS=192.168.1.1:389,192.168.1.2:389"
and "NS_LDAP_SERVER_PREF=192.168.1.1:389,192.168.1.2:389" in
ldap_client_file an ldap_client_cache files, but it tries to connect to
the first server in all cases.
