killing slapd

Hi,

I am having trouble killing slapd under FreeBSD. The kill -TERM does not
work. Slapd simply keeps running. To take the server down, I have to give it
a kill -QUIT which also dumps the core. The problem only arose after I
upraded from OpenLdap version 1.2.7 to 1.2.11.

Does anybody experience the same problem, or know how to shut slapd down
propperly
