test001 failure

We've been using OpenLDAP for a year and a half now without any build
problems, but now, trying to build 1.2.9 on an Ultra10 (running 2.5.1
for legacy reasons) we get the following error:
==================
cd openldap-1.2.9/tests && /usr/local/bin/make
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/local/src/openldap-1.2.9/tests'
ln: cannot create ./data: File exists
make[1]: [all-local] Error 2 (ignored)

any help, or suggestions are appreciated.
