How to replicate/refer to another LDAP server

Hi to all.

I am a newbie using OpenLDAP and I would like to know if you could
help me to replicate/refer to another LDAP.

About the replication, I tried to use the centipede program and it
fails with the following error :
...
Initiating search...
ldbm_open /tmp/fileAYTGd failed
ldbm_open: No such file or directory
could not create temp file

I'm running it on a Red Hat 6.1 Linux distribution.

About the referral I tried to use your example on page 50 of the
OpenLDAP guide document and it didn't work. I know that on version 2.0
you will have a LDAP proxy but we have tested already one and it didn't
have the functionality expected... If I can't replicate with OpenLDAP
can I at least chain requests for our inward LDAP server? At least it
is better than a plug!

Thank you for your attention.
