starting from scratch

so, i've got openldap up and running as per the quick start document.
but now i want to start using it for real, where "real" is defined as
providing a directory which can be used as a combination address
book/certificate store for netscape/outlook/outlook express. (roaming
user profiles for netscape would be nice too, but one step at a time).

so to start myself off, what do people use to create directories from
scratch. are there any GUIs for either linux or windows to make this
process a bit less painful than doing continual ldapadd's.

second, i checked deja news and saw a couple of people having problems
getting the "export certificate to directory" stuff to work from
netscape, but no answers. anyone have that working? i suppose i could
put them in manually, but our users get the certs themselves, so it
would be nice if they could add the certs to the directories themselves
too.

thanks in advance.

--mk

p.s. running openldap 1.2.9 on redhat 6.1 with cyrus for imap.
