some problem about replica

Hi,Good morning (evening):
I need some help about how to realize the function of replica of openldap.I just
write the correlation portion of the master and slave configure file.
The IP of the master server is "172.26.20.98" and the slave's is "172.26.20.99".
configure of the master slapd:

######
replogfile /home/rjy/ldbm/slapd.replog
replica host=172.26.20.99:389
binddn="cn=replica99,ou=pdl,o=cs,c=cn"
bindmethod=simple
credentials=12345

.

and configure of slave slapd:

referral ldap://172.26.20.98 #This is metioned in teh FAQ of openldap
updatedn="cn=replica99,ou=pdl,o=cs,c=cn"

I run ldif2ldbm on the master server and copy the database file to the slave server,
then start the slave server and 'slurpd' on the master .I try to do some modify on the slave or
master server,but slurpd looks don't work,and their database is different finally.I have read
some letter on this problem ,but still didn't find the reason and solution to solve it,so
write this letter for help from you.
Any help is great appreciated!
