All entities publishing schema should obtain a registered OID
for such purposes. OIDs are required for properly publishing
LDAPv3 schema items.
I suggest obtaining an "Private Enterprise Number" OID from IANA.
It's a simple as filling out a form (and is free):
http://www.isi.edu/cgi-bin/iana/enterprise.pl
(don't let the SNMP/MIB stuff confuse you, you can use the
OIDs as you choose).
Optionally, you can obtain OID from a national authority such
as ANSI. But these are expense and offer no value over an IANA
assigned OID.
Once assigned, be sure to list your OID at:
http://www.alvestrand.no/harald/objectid/
