Indeed it does, but there's a new problem:

  Comparing retrieved entries from master and slave...
  ./test-db/master.out ./test-db/slave.out differ: char 443, line 12
  test failed - master and slave databases differ
  >>>>> ./scripts/test007-replication failed (exit 1)

Is this something expected? I didn't found such a message in the
bug tracking database, at least not at char 443. (Btw, the tests
directory is something new to me and a very welcome side effect
of the discussion. :-)

P.S: My system is an AMD K6-2 400 with RH Linux 6.0 (Kernel 2.2.5, glibc
