getfilter.c Compiling Error

Greetings ALL,

I am trying to compile openldap on a Sparc 20 with SunOs 4.1.4 with gcc 2.7.2.

When doing a make I get these error:

getfilter.c: In function `ldap_init_getfilter_buf':

getfilter.c:229: `regex_t' undeclared (first use this function)
getfilter.c:229: parse error before `re'
getfilter.c:241: `re' undeclared (first use this function)

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `getfilter.lo'
Current working directory /opt/test/ldap/libraries/libldap
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all-common'
Current working directory /opt/test/ldap/libraries
*** Error code 1

Does this mean I have to install a later version of gcc, or is there a work
around?
