[LDAP] referrals not working

Howdy,

I'm trying to have my local LDAP server refer to the company
wide LDAP server. I added something like:

dn: o=Europe, dc=sonycom, dc=com
objectclass: top
objectclass: organizationalUnit
objectclass: referral
description: Sony Europe
ref: ldap://xx.xx.xx.xx/o=SONY

But I still don't succeed in looking up anything from the
company database when trying to query my server using either
Netscape Communicator 4.5 or gq 0.1.9 (great tool!!!).
I do notice some packets going back and forth between my
machine and the company server when I use ethereal (tcpdump)
but I get no result.

When I compare the network packets exchanged between my machine
and the company server when I query them directly or when I use
my own server, I notice that - when going through my own server -
the name of the person I'm looking for isn't even mentioned in
the packets (it just says "objectclass0" somewhere). While if I'm
querying the company server directly there seems to be some list
of who I'm looking for and what I expect back.

Any idea why my referrals are going bad?

Nico
