Namelength of attributes and entries

Hello,

I am bussy with designing a namespace for an ldap server. I have a book
where the length of attributes is no longer as 3 or four characters, e.g.

dn: dc=airius, dc=com
o: arius.com

Now my question is, is there a maximum lengt to these entries/attributes,
and if so, what is the maximum length of these entries/attributes.I ask this
because a lot of entries are used and it's hard to read short
entry/attribute name
