The source code is stored in a CVS repository, as described here:
  http://www.openldap.org/software/repo.html
The development branch is named HEAD.  As the above URL says,
you can check it out with
  % setenv CVSROOT :pserver:anonymous@cvs.OpenLDAP.org:/repo/OpenLDAP
  % cvs login
  Password: (enter OpenLDAP)
  % cvs -z3 checkout -P ldap
  % cvs logout
