Did you reconfigure?  Yesterday, a change in this area occurred in
tests/run.in, which requires reconfiguring the package (always recommended
when playing with HEAD).  I guess we could add a

run: run.in
        echo "re-run configure" ; exit 1

rule in tests/Makefile?
