.. and infinite loops as a consequence of fixing ITS#4315.

When non-prescriptive identity assertion is used, if the remote server is
unavailable resources may not be released correctly.

Also, in some abnormal cases, results may be returned twice to the client.

This is now fixed in HEAD.
