Howard, please close this bug.  I am still trying to determine what is
wrong.  It must be something on my end and is not a bug in OpenLDAP.

Oddly, I have tried another host for a Solaris 8 x86 build and it did
the same.  So, at least there is some consistency:>

But a build on Solaris 10 x86 with Sun Studio 8 compilers works great.
