Kurt,

I tested SSL connections against:

A) Server with normal host named cert (ldap1.stanford.edu CERT)
B) Server with an expired cert (ldap-test3.stanford.edu CERT)
C) Server with a * cert in the CN (*.stanford.edu CERT)

A was successful
B failed
C was successful

This is all what I would expect to see.  Is there any further testing you 
would like?
