Anibal,
I resorted to using the synchronous function call by now,
as you suggested; this solution is not ideal, because the
asynchronous version allows to gather more detailed info
in case of failure, and in general to have better control.
This requires some reworking (the same is needed in other
parts of the code) so I prefer to defer it.
