I don't think there will be any backporting;
however, I don't see any problem in using
2.2's librewrite with 2.1, because it didn't
change much (except for these fixes).

All you should need is a

cvs diff -u -r OPENLDAP_REL_ENG_2_1 -r OPENLDAP_REL_ENG_2_2

from within libraries/librewrite/; the related
changes to back-meta (and back-ldap) should be
minimal, if any (if I recall, the API of one single
function changed, but I'm unable to track it).
