uniqueMember will not search (ITS#2664)

If I throw

ldapsearch -b '' uniqueMember=uid=leifj,dc=it,dc=su,dc=se 

at a 2.2.0alpha server I get no results. Exactly the same database is running
on my 2.1.22-boxes which produce the expected number of entries... Searching 
for member works fine in both cases. Adding objectClass=groupOfUniqueNames
to the filter does not help.
