Are you running RedHat's OpenLDAP RPMs? It seems that the openldap-servers errata for 7.1 somehow breaks slurpd. The OpenLDAP RPMs from rawhide fix this (openldap-2.0.18-2). https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=52317
