ldbm errors after a while (ITS#500)

After some time my OpenLDAP directory comes up with errors like these
in the log file and crashes frequently. A rebuild from LDIF fixes it for
a while (a couple of days). It does seem to be load related, i.e. higher
load causes the errors to arrive sooner:

I'm using Sleepycat 2.7.7 and build with threads.
