OpenLDAP-1.2.7 on Slackware Linux 2.2.13 (ITS#381)

Hi,
I'm in the process of installing OpenLDAP-1.2.7 on a Linux-2.2.13 machine.
Everything runs fine up until test007-replication, at which point the test
suite hangs after starting ldapsearch to check for the slave ldapd:

>>>>> Starting test007-replication ...
running defines.sh . ldbm
Cleaning up in ./test-db...
Cleaning up in ./test-repl...
Starting master slapd on TCP/IP port 9009...
Starting slave slapd on TCP/IP port 9010...
Using ldapsearch to check that master slapd is running...
Waiting 5 seconds for slapd to start...
Using ldapsearch to check that slave slapd is running...

Can you advise me on diagnosing this problem, and is it a showstopper? Is
it going to matter to me if I'll only be running one server and won't need
replication ability?

Thank you.
