On SunOS 4.1.4, compilation of 'ud' always fails due to missing regcomp and
other functions (apparently included from ldapfilter).

An apparent workaround is to install GNU libregex, and modify the SunOS
platform files' PLATFORMLIBS and PLATFORMCFLAGS settings to locate the
library.

This probably should be documented.
