Re: Connection Time on Ldap. (fwd)
Hello:
I have been using UofM ldap for past 5 months .
I have a user database of about 1500 users and run slapd and
slurpd to replicate data from main server to 3 slave servers
in three different cities.
I had compiled ldap with posix threads.
Recently I started facing a problem in retrieving ldap queries
when the loadavg on system ( shown via top or w or cat /proc/loadavg
on Linux) goes above 4 the time taken to get a reply for a query
fired from Netscape is more than 1 minute.
I saw the same when I did a raw ldapsearch on the server.
On posting this query I was given the suggestion to use openldap.
I downloaded openldap and compiled it but slurpd doesnt seem to
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
be working even after compiling with threads.
It gives the standard error: slurpd currently requires thread support.
I am running ldap on Slackware Linux with kernel 2.0.35 on a
586 machine .
Rgds,
Sanjog.
